April Vacation Programs
April 11, 2022 @ 9:00 am - April 14, 2022 @ 3:00 pm
TMSC’s April Vacation Science programs are great for students in grades K-8 who want to explore the outdoors, discover the wonders of weather, or marvel at the mysteries of the sun!
Classes are intentionally small. Early registration is recommended. (No walk-ins, please.) Have questions? Call us at 860-677-8571.
This spring we’re offering:
- MICROSAFARI | K-3
Want to learn more about the little creatures that run the world? During this program, students will get hands-on experience with insects, crustaceans, reptiles, and more! We will do plenty of fun crafty projects, explore the miniature world of pond water, and learn to safely handle our unusual class pets. Students will learn to use scientific equipment like microscopes and nets. We will spend plenty of time outdoors, weather permitting!
- SUN | K-3
The Sun gives us light and warmth, but how much do we really know about it? In this illuminating program, you can use the Sun to make art, tell time, cook s’mores and produce electricity! See sunspots on the Sun’s surface, and view our nearest star up close through a variety of telescopes and projectors.
- GEOCACHING | 4-8
There are hidden “treasures” waiting to be found in the mountains, forests, waterways, deserts, cities and parks near you! High-tech hide-and-seek, a modern scavenger hunt, and this year celebrates 22 years since its inception. Around the world, individuals/teams have hidden “caches” of items, and it is your job to find them! Learn GPS, and create and find caches. This game makes you the search engine!
- NATURAL HAZARDS | 4-8
Have you ever wondered why tsunamis are so destructive, or how seismologists pinpoint exactly where an earthquake originated? Students will answer these questions and more during our Natural Hazards program. We will also experiment with different kinds of volcanic eruptions, so prepare to get a little messy!
